NZ Fitness Olympic Cover Story

Quiet and unassuming is Glenn Snyders, fit young ambitious and near the top of his game. He will be among the few elite athletes carrying the hopes of New Zealand later this year as he puts his best forward in London for the Olympic games in search of a podium finish for 100 metres breast stroke.

At the studio, Glenn wasn't fazed in the slightest as a team of make up artists headed up by the very talented Sam Morrison got to work preparing him for our cover shoot. I had already given him an idea for what we were aiming for earlier. So when it came down time to start shooting Glenn was very relaxed and keen to make some great images.

I wanted to shoot a composite featuring his home training turf where he spends countless hours following the black line with his squad at MISH.

The next day I followed Glenn and the squad into MISH to cover a training session in the pool, which offered up a lot of great opportunities some semi set up and mostly action. It was this day I shot the background plate for the cover also. At the time a lot of re construction was going on around the pool facility so I had to tweak my original angle, in the end this didn't effect to much the overall result I was after.

Day 3 and by this stage we were in a constant state of banter, but that would have to wait as i wanted to shoot Glenn running thru one of his High Performance gym sessions at Millenium Institute of Sport. Again another amazing opportunity to create some amazing images of an athlete of this level.

The issue has just come out #113 and is on the shelves now till March. Its a great story and if your interested in high performance olympic athletes I hope you can get a chance to have a read, and enjoy the images.

Thanks to Ian Hepenstal, Spoon Studio, Millenium Institute of Sport, Sam Cairns Morrison, Andrew Bias and Nick Burridge.

Digital Photo Artist

Came across photo artist peter langenhahn. This guy captures thousands of images at a single event, then works tirelessly to enhance each frame and create a single collage. He says his work is best enlarged to 1 x 2 meters to appreciate it, they go for $1200 Euro a piece and he's done a whole manner of events including freestyle moto. Check the vid for how he does it, very cool.

Haimona Ngata Video

Had the privilege of working along side Haimona Ngata last week. I was shooting some stills and he worked some magic with the video interview part. He rolls a nice set up, and totally professional approach to his work. Nuf said really check out his work its first class and if your after some quality video content for your next project, company or business do yourself a favor and try him first.

Olympic New Zealand BMX athlete Sarah Walker #96

Shooting Sarah Walker I have to admit made me a little nervous. She's a big name in the game and I was feeling some pressure to bring it.

We made some good research and panned the whole shoot out over 2 and 1/2 days, with one day dedicated to the studio session a day at Millenium Institute to get a rare glimpse into her testing and an action track session at North Harbour .

Working with Sarah, I came to appreciate how high profile achieving people can have such huge support teams around them, so many personal behind one athlete on the podium its crazy, but necessary.

She's an incredible inspiration to so many, and I am so proud to have had an opportunity to share a little something and contribute to her journey of Olympic success in 2012 London

The images will be found later this month in NZ fitness magazine and a cool online interview can be found over at Fatbmx.com

Clinton Tudor Promo

A little something myself and Sam over at Flying Kiwi Productions have been working on. Of course what's different here is I'm actually doing the riding this time and not shooting. Sam also helps me out assisting on my stills shoots and as you can see rather handy with motion photography. Big thanks to PNC on Dirty Records Label for the track 'The King' and GT bikes NZ.

USA's Tom Ritz interview? No way!

Yes way!

I made some portraits and got to shoot the breeze with an amazing BMX talent today..and loved it.

Conducting a sweet interview with Tom Ritz for BMXpress, this is a big deal in the BMX community. If any one knows about the UCI SX series world champs, Olympics or most NBL races you'll know Tom is behind the designs and builds of the tracks at these prestigious events. 2-3 days for an indoor track around 5 days to build an outdoor means this guy and his team are on the money.

Toms tracks are renowned for their speed, challenge good mix of technical and flow. Judging by Kurt James' pics of Cambridge complete re design/build and what I saw of North Harbor's re touch, Tom's magic on these shores will not disappoint.

Issue #55 due out Feb 2011.

Check some out takes>>>

Rabo Direct BMX North Island Champs Official Art Work

We were charged with the challenge of making an artwork for the Rotorua club that incorporated their two current world champion riders Dave Mohi and Lachie Stevens McNabb.

I knew straight away that I wanted to do my trademark action images but also wanted to draw on Dave's connection and spirit to the Rotorua region.

It was a great opportunity, and thanks to the design talents of Les Porter who is an avid biker, we got to work and created some magic, and inspired some kids to achieve what Dave and Lachie have in the process.

Liston Borrie FMX

Liston Borrie is a rising star in the FMX community. He consistently turns heads at shows and competitions. known as ''Rubber Boy'' I think amazing should be included in front of that.

I set up and made these few frames before a show recently to update for motomayhem who help out Liston with custom moto graphics for his KTM.
