Clinton Tudor Promo

A little something myself and Sam over at Flying Kiwi Productions have been working on. Of course what's different here is I'm actually doing the riding this time and not shooting. Sam also helps me out assisting on my stills shoots and as you can see rather handy with motion photography. Big thanks to PNC on Dirty Records Label for the track 'The King' and GT bikes NZ.

USA's Tom Ritz interview? No way!

Yes way!

I made some portraits and got to shoot the breeze with an amazing BMX talent today..and loved it.

Conducting a sweet interview with Tom Ritz for BMXpress, this is a big deal in the BMX community. If any one knows about the UCI SX series world champs, Olympics or most NBL races you'll know Tom is behind the designs and builds of the tracks at these prestigious events. 2-3 days for an indoor track around 5 days to build an outdoor means this guy and his team are on the money.

Toms tracks are renowned for their speed, challenge good mix of technical and flow. Judging by Kurt James' pics of Cambridge complete re design/build and what I saw of North Harbor's re touch, Tom's magic on these shores will not disappoint.

Issue #55 due out Feb 2011.

Rabo Direct BMX North Island Champs Official Art Work

We were charged with the challenge of making an artwork for the Rotorua club that incorporated their two current world champion riders Dave Mohi and Lachie Stevens McNabb.

I knew straight away that I wanted to do my trademark action images but also wanted to draw on Dave's connection and spirit to the Rotorua region.

It was a great opportunity, and thanks to the design talents of Les Porter who is an avid biker, we got to work and created some magic, and inspired some kids to achieve what Dave and Lachie have in the process.

Liston Borrie FMX

Liston Borrie is a rising star in the FMX community. He consistently turns heads at shows and competitions. known as ''Rubber Boy'' I think amazing should be included in front of that.

I set up and made these few frames before a show recently to update for motomayhem who help out Liston with custom moto graphics for his KTM.

Dove Star Walk 2010

October is breast cancer action month and it kicked into high gear last night for Auckland at the Domain for the annual Dove Star Walk.

Thousands were in attendance, it was amazing to see so much support for the foundation and the campaign against the disease. If you missed it its not too late to get involved as there is an entire month of great activities for October.

I discovered that pink is a very happy colour. Here are a few of my highlights.

Yung Energy

Met with a cool Auckland crew Yung Shottaz their beats music and energy really inspired me to hit the streets. Here is what we came up with in the city lights resulted in quite a cool shot.

Also in the current Remix magazine done a little profile for Skull Candy nice bright colors and lots of high energy, I had to use one of the guys from Shottaz for it. Continued on the urban Auckland night City tip, made it a bit cuter this time round tho.

Photographer for V Shapeshifter Twin Galaxies NZ Tour

V energy recently sent me to take photos on the Shapeshifter tour. Music, venues, people beautiful different towns of New Zealand...A lot of amazing moments.

First thing that struck me was the amount of technology, gadgets and various tech bits that goes into making the perfect performance sound. Racks and racks of equipment and the wizards that man it know just what every tweak and turn of every knob will do. Its like they are putting together a giant puzzle that results in totally overwhelming experience every time.
Crowds were treated and charged with wave after wave of multi forming multi layered soundscapes cohesively brought together by the power of one. Love beauty and energy in all its various forms - Shapeshifter

AUT took my photography to new heights

MEN camp is all about supporting young boys in todays society. AUT is doing a good job at connecting with teenagers which of course is not that easy. So its best to tie them up and elevate them. I had to push myself, I had to get myself to new heights also was especially interesting to see my assistant balancing light modifiers 30 meters above the ground. Magic times.

Spiritual moment with Matt Walker in Rotorua

Took my kid to Rotorua for a weekend. Matt Walker found out I was heading down and so we decided to hook up and shoot. We had been meaning to get some shots together for Leatt NZ for some time now. Everything came together in a magical few moments and makes me realize what a wonderful country we live in where you can ride and create these images in the middle of winter. Make a shout out to all those supporters who came out on the hill to help out.

Fashion&BMX

I've been bored with the NZ fashion scene for quite some time now especially after the all time low point at the last NZ fashion week with Pamela Anderson running around the catwalk half wasted naked...Fashion really, please?

Funny enough REMIX out of all NZ titles lured me back into it. So BMX it is.

Below, Kurt Pickard NZ BMX champion for fashion/profile shoot for REMIX. looking thru the whole issue I'm suprisingly proud of being part of it. Well done Team REMIX:Tim, Tina, Carl & Co very nice issue.

Ilabb Sanctuary Open Day MX

Ilabb are creators of custom designs and decals for bikes boards and other stuff thats cool. Nice guys too with a mini ramp and old skool pinball in their office.

As clever and progressive kids they found a fun way to give back to the supporters and clients - coaching session riding MX at a private location.

It was great to be there, thanks guys.

Now here is a portrait of the owner of the farm we rode at, he can teach you a lesson or two about old skool.

New Crupi USA BMX Print Ad

Shread! is the word Kurt Pickard, BMX champion would use to describe something thats making a difference, that he would regard as hot and now.

I believe this resulting new Crupi BMX Ad featuring Kurt's incredible riding talents and my photography is the result of a symbiotic relationship between camera and subject. The 'perfect combination' between talent, skill, determination, passion and art.

Full credit also goes out also to the Crupi designer that has completely 'got' the image and matched it with graphical content which fully suits the feel and look , I think somehow that he got excited!

Pros and cons of a BMX take over

Its crazy when something takes over your life so much. BMX has pretty much done that to me over this past 2 months. It even claimed the whole new section on my website called surprise surprise BMX! Under the Strong influence of current and future Olympians I'm getting back into BMX racing after a 10 year break!

I'm sure there have been other things... yes! a fashion story for REMIX oh actually that featured a BMX athlete too. My girlfriend gets upset when I turn up to the dinner table with my new BMX helmet on and is not over the moon with a BMX bike in the bedroom. What's wrong with her?

Anyway, to smooth thing over and keep her a little happy with me, I take photos of sunsets from my deck. Here here

BMXpress issue #52

BMXpress arrived air freighted in the post today from Oz. Glad too because my feature coverage from the North Island BMX titles held in cambridge over Labour weekend..some time ago I know. I've got 5 pages in there which is a step up from my last contribution, next story will be from the National titles in Franklin District Auckland over Easter where I'm looking forward to shooting Kurt Pickard, Rico,Nicole Wright and Marc Willers. On the subject of Marc Willers I last seen him recently tearing up MereMere drag way in his unmistakable green beast NIZOLA at the Rotary Nationals. He also has a half page shot of him in the same issue leading extremely fast American rider Mike Day from UCI round in S.A. Go team KIWI. Look out for this cover at all good news agents near you.

SCARTT 500

SCARTT 500 and we had one for the first time in NZ recently. Yep we got the call a few weeks back to start thinking about where to set this cool exciting new product for a branding image that would speak to the farming community of NZ. Well we've been dealing with V-Moto for a while now the parent company of the new side by side 500 cc SCARTT which is so new that land transport havn't got a classification for it yet. I took this puppy for a spin a little after the shoot at nightfall headlight blazing and let it rip along a west coast beach whoa, loved every second of it, felt like a kid in a candy store positively brimming:)))

Nice! Cheers V-Moto for the opportunity to be part of an amazing revolution in the recreational industry well thats how it is for me, farmers may disagree on the usage.

For more on this one of a kind experience visit SCARTT Vrrrrrrrroooooommmmmmmm

PPP

Proximity Pulse is cool, so I wanted to make a cool image for their posse. So I did, well its a recci really but I learnt a few things from it, and when I do it for real I have a sound idea for how to approach it....was kinda going for the ''ohh ahh'' fruju ad from the 80's minus the yacht, ha ha. Enjoy.
